1. Drum brakes are cheap and conform to the traditional design. For heavy vehicles, since the speed of the vehicle is generally not very high, the durability of the brake shoes is also higher than that of the disc brakes. The diameter of the brake drum of the type brake device is much smaller than that of the disc type, so many heavy-duty vehicles still use the four-wheel drum design.

2. The heat dissipation performance of the disc brake is very good, and the response of the braking system is relatively fast, which can be used for high-frequency braking action. Compared with drum brakes, disc brakes are simple in structure and easy to maintain. Under the same size, since the contact area between the brake pads of the drum brake and the brake drum is larger than that of the disc brake, the braking force of the drum brake is also larger.

3. The heat dissipation of drum brakes is much worse. Secondly, the stability of the braking force is insufficient. The braking changes on different roads are very large, and it is not easy to control. When the brakes are continuously applied, the brakes may decline and the brakes may fail. In addition, after using the drum brake for a period of time, it is necessary to regularly adjust the gap of the brake shoe, and even remove the entire brake drum to clean up the accumulated brake powder.

4. The cost of disc brakes is relatively expe

nsive, and it is not suitable for some special environments, such as the case of more sand and gravel, which will easily damage the brake disc. In addition, the friction area between the disc brake pad and the brake disc is smaller than that of the drum brake, the braking force is also smaller, and the wear of the brake pad is larger, and the replacement frequency is higher.
