How To Make Electromagnetic Crane?

Electromagnetic Crane


A device that uses electromagnets to transport steel materials is called an electromagnetic crane. The main part of the electromagnetic crane is the electromagnet. When the current is turned on, the electromagnet will firmly attract the steel object and lift it to the designated place. Cut off the current, the magnetism disappears, and the steel item is put down. Electromagnetic cranes are very convenient to use, but they can only be used when there is current. They can be used in scrap steel recycling departments and steelmaking workshops.

I. The electromagnet is composed of bottom shell, iron core, coil, panel and junction box. Its manufacturing process is as follows:


1. Select suitable material for welding or forging bottom shell.


2. Install the iron core on the bottom shell according to the varieties of different electromagnet.


3. Wind the coil with the corresponding number of turns and technical parameters, and put it on the iron core after drying. KINOCRANES select the best coil materials in the market. Generally the coil types are divided into aluminum coil and copper coil.


4. Pouring asphalt or other waterproof materials inside the bottom shell.


5. Make the panel and install it with the bottom case part. KINOCRANES use 20Mn23L material, make sure that the bottom of the magnet is strong enough and not to deform when hitting the steel materials.


6. Rust removal and painting: Magnet shell derusting + painting to ensure the adhesion of paint on the electromagnet.


The electromagnet adopts DC power supply, which has the characteristics of constant, strong suction and small remanence.


Electromagnets can be divided into ordinary magnet type and strong manget type. Ordinary magnets have a suction force of 10-12 kg per square centimeter, and strong magnets are not less than 15 kg per square centimeter. According to their use temperature, they can be divided into normal temperature type and high temperature type.

II. Electromagnetic characteristics


1. It adopts fully sealed structure and has good moisture-proof performance.


2. The computer-optimized design has reasonable structure, light weight, large suction and low energy consumption.


3. The excitation coil is treated by a special process, which improves the electrical and mechanical properties of the coil. The thermal grade of the insulating material reaches Class C, and the service life is long.


4. The rated energization duration rate of ordinary electromagnets has been increased from 50% in the past to 60%, which improves the use efficiency of electromagnets.


5. The ultra-high temperature electromagnet adopts a unique heat insulation method, in which the temperature of the object to be absorbed is increased by 700 °C from 600 °C in the past, which expands the application range of the electromagnet.


6. Easy to install, operate and maintain.


III. Electromagnet using advises


1. Electromagnet should be working at the environments of moisture-proof and raining-proof. It cannot be placed on wet ground and environment, or it will lead to some moisture inside the magnets and reduce the insulation value, finally will make the magnet temperature will go up faster and magnetic will drop.


2. When the operators are off work, they must remember to cut off the electricity of the magnets, prevent the burning-out of magnets from being energized for a long time.


3. Please often check the input voltage and current of the magnets to see if it is normal. If the fuse is burnt, you must find out the causes before you can continue to use them.


4. The 2-phase direct current output from the electrical cabinet goes to the magnets. It need to often check whether there is any current leakage happens. This is the main reason for the decrease of magnetic and the increase of output current. The cable reel, the magnet outlet, and the fixed point of the reel cable are the main points. There are many magnets when using will appear to spark between magnets and the scraps.
